Helping You Enjoy Every Project

Whether you're casting on your very first stitches, finishing a handmade gift or searching for the perfect yarn for your next project, we're here to help you enjoy the creative journey from start to finish.

Based in Burbage, Leicestershire, Wool and Crafts is an independent yarn shop specialising in knitting, crochet and other fibre crafts. We welcome makers of all experience levels, whether you're visiting us in person or shopping online from elsewhere in the UK.

Our aim is simple. We want to make it easier for you to choose the right products, learn new skills and enjoy every project with confidence.

Everything You Need for Your Next Project

Rather than trying to stock a little of everything, we focus on providing a carefully chosen range of products that work well together and help you complete your projects successfully.

You'll find a wide selection of:

  • Yarn
  • Knitting needles and crochet hooks
  • Haberdashery and accessories
  • Patterns
  • Project packs and kits
  • Gift cards, available to purchase in store or online
  • Classes and workshops

Whether you're looking for everyday essentials, something special for your next project or a thoughtful gift for another maker, we aim to make finding the right products straightforward.

Carefully Chosen Products You Can Trust

Choosing yarn isn't simply about colour or price. The fibre, weight, texture and construction all influence how a finished project will look and feel.

That's why every product we stock is selected for a reason.

Instead of filling shelves with every brand available, we focus on products that offer good quality, dependable performance and genuine value for the projects our customers enjoy making.

By carefully selecting what we stock, we can recommend products with confidence, suggest suitable alternatives when needed and help you find materials that are right for your project.

Helping You Learn and Grow

Buying materials is only part of making something you'll be proud of.

Whether you're learning to crochet for the first time, returning to knitting after a break or developing more advanced techniques, we're here to support your creative journey.

We offer:

  • Beginner knitting and crochet lessons
  • Workshops
  • Project packs designed to help build confidence
  • Tip of the Week tutorials and inspiration
  • Helpful online resources throughout the year

Learning doesn't stop after your first project. Many of our customers continue developing their skills with us for years, trying new techniques and discovering new crafts along the way.

Helping You Choose with Confidence

Sometimes the hardest part of a project is deciding where to begin.

You may be wondering which yarn works best for a pattern, whether another yarn could be substituted, what size needles or hook you'll need or how much yarn to buy.

Helping you answer those questions is an important part of what we do.

Whether you're choosing products in the shop or browsing online, our aim is to make selecting the right materials feel simpler, giving you greater confidence before you start your project.

Shop the Way That Suits You

Everyone likes to shop differently, so we make it easy to choose the option that suits you.

You can:

  • Visit our Burbage shop and see products in person
  • Browse and shop online from anywhere in the UK
  • Book classes online
  • Purchase gift cards in store or online
  • Get quick answers to straightforward questions through our website chat

Whether you enjoy visiting the shop, prefer the convenience of online shopping or use a mixture of both, you'll receive the same carefully selected products and helpful service.

More Than Just a Yarn Shop

Creativity is often better when it's shared.

Throughout the year we host regular Knit and Natter sessions, seasonal crochet activities and classes where makers can learn new skills, share ideas and enjoy spending time with others who love crafting.

We're also proud to take part in local community events, including the Grove Road PTFA Scarecrow Festival, and act as a collection point for Winter Woollies, helping local people by collecting hats, scarves and other warm handmade items for the local food bank.

These activities are simply an extension of what we believe crafting should be: enjoyable, welcoming and something that brings people together.

Why Makers Keep Coming Back

Many of our makers first discover Wool and Crafts because they're looking for yarn or supplies.

They return because they know they'll find carefully chosen products, practical advice, opportunities to learn new skills and friendly support whenever they need it.

Some enjoy visiting the shop to see colours and textures in person. Others appreciate the convenience of ordering online. Many do both.

Whatever stage you're at in your creative journey, our goal remains the same.

To help you choose with confidence, enjoy making and finish every project with pride.
